Bio-compatible Plastic for Medical Implants Processing

Soft and thermally sensitive materials are perfect for picosecond laser micromachining. Picosecond lasers offer advantages over other tools due to the non-thermal ablation process. Devices made from bio-absorbable and drug delivering plastics are gaining wide-spread use in medicine. Materials such as these cannot tolerate heating or UV exposure and they are impossible to machine with conventional laser machining. Attodyne’s picosecond lasers are able to precisely process these material at 1064nm, 532nm or 355 nm with the highest speed at 1064nm and best cutting quality at <532nm.
